Online RRT∗ and online FMT∗: Rapid replanning with dynamic cost

چکیده
Traditional path-planning involves (1) choosing start and goal points, (2) calculating a path, and (3) following that path. There are, however, many real world scenarios where an agent might need to change its goal and replan, which frequently includes expensively calculating a new path from scratch. We propose an adaptation to RRT* that locally rewires the RRT* tree as the robot moves and path costs change. Local rewiring takes advantage of information already existing in the tree and makes small adaptations that accommodate changes. Rewiring adds computational overhead during robot travel, but allows replanning in real time with approximately constant overhead. Empirical studies demonstrate that computational costs are lower than alternative replanners in 2D worlds with moderate obstacle density, and the resulting paths approach optimality as more time is allowed to replan.

متن کاملFast Marching Trees: A Fast Marching Sampling-Based Method for Optimal Motion Planning in Many Dimensions
In this paper we present a novel probabilistic sampling-based motion planning algorithm called the Fast Marching Tree algorithm (FMT*). The algorithm is specifically aimed at solving complex motion planning problems in high-dimensional configuration spaces. This algorithm is proven to be asymptotically optimal and is shown to converge to an optimal solution faster than its state-of-the-art coun...
متن کاملRRT: Real-Time Motion Planning/Replanning for Environments with Unpredictable Obstacles
Dynamic environments have obstacles that unpredictably appear, disappear, or move. We present the first sampling-based motion planning algorithm for real-time navigation through dynamic environments. Our algorithm, RRT, refines and repairs the same search-graph over the entire duration of navigation, i.e., despite changing obstacles and/or robot location. Whenever such changes are observed, e.g...
متن کاملTwo Techniques for Tractable Decision-Theoretic Planning
Two techniques to provide inferential tractability for decision-theoretic planning are discussed. Knowledge compilation is a speedup technique that pre-computes intermediate quantifies of a domain model to yield a more efficiently executable model. The basic options for compiling decision-theoretic models are defined, leading to the most compiled model in the form of parameterized, conditionact...
